Review of the Catalina 25 by Clifton Thompson

Year built 1981
Location of boat Greensboro, NC
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in !999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? The only change that I would make would b to purchase it sooner.
Gear that's been added New Coast Guard/Safety Gear: PFDs, Flares, Whistl and Horn. New Magna Grill Changed out the freshwater tank tubing.
Structural or complex improvements Remounted the Bow Eye and reinforced its backing plate. Rewired the mast and installed new anchor/steaming lights. Changing out the galley sink thru hull Next project will be to rewire the boat.
The boat's best features Favorable balance of cost/quality and ease of trailering/sailing ability. She balances easily, slightly more so on the starboard tack. Sails incredibly well under the main alone.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Still getting used to the particulars of the swing keel.
Sailing characterisitcs As above, balances well and is very comfortable for this small of a boat.
Motoring characterisitcs 1986 Evinrude Yatch Twin OB with long shaft moves along fairly well. I had some difficulty with a 20 knot headwind pushing me off course, but that was probably operator failure as much as anyting.
Liveability Great air flow through the boat. The berths are comfortable if someewhat samll in the V berth. (I'm 6'1
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from an individual.
