How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength Press here and selec
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in Mari
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I really like this boat. I would prefer, however, a 30'. She is a well made boat. No stress cracks or other trouble worth mentioning.
Gear that's been added VHF radio, stereo with cockpit and cabin speakers, compass, selftailing winches. I am running the control lines all to the cockpit now. I am changing the main sheet system, I feel it goes through too many sheaves.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features She sails easily in light wind, and is lots of fun in heavy wind.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The head holding tank is leaking at the fitting. The cockpit scupper lines were cracked and leaking, which let water from the cockpit into the boat. They also let lake water in when we were on a steep heal angle.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs She has an outboard, I would prefer the inboard diesel. Reversing is a little hard to control, but lots of boats are that way. We don't back up much anyway.
Liveability The cabin size is pretty good for a 27'. I would prefer the space that a '30 would offer.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any It went smoothly, as expected.
Other comments Great boat.
