Review of the Catalina 27 by norm julian

Year built
Location of boat bigfork mt.
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 96
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? without a doubt...for my purposes it fits niceley and so do the three of us.
Gear that's been added navigational stuff. vhf radio, genoalots of sunbrella covers..etc
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features i can stand up straight (6-1) in an easy to sail overnight weekender or competitive racer.I had one on the sf bay and bought another when i moved to montana..tall rig this time...it fits my needs and my family loves her.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. i would have an inboard diesel, head instead of porta pottie
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs with a new merc 12hp long shaft it moves right along at hull speed. a little too heavy to horse up and down but that can be remedied. backing is a trip with any outboard and rudder config...plan way ahead.
Liveability very comfortable with 4 adults who aren't too modest at pottie time.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any n/a
Other comments i don't make any compensations like... for the money...bigger is better...wish we had a wood burning stove when it's cold.. someday, just because i like the creature comforts,i'd consider a 32 but it isn't important now.
