Review of the Catalina 34 by Hank Recla

Normal wind strength 10-15 knots

Liveaboard? No  
Owner bought the boat in 1993  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely.  
Gear that's been added Light wind spinnaker. all else was standard.  
Structural or complex improvements Yes. Four golf cart battery house bank, separate starter battery, 130 amp output Powerline alternator, Heart Interface Link 2000R monitor, Heart Interface Force 10 charger/inverter, Adler-Barbour Cold Machine, redesigned propane system with gas grill, upgraded traveler system to 5 to 1 Garhauer traveler, upgrade prop to 3-bladed 10x15 Sailor prop, many other little goodies.  
The boat's best features Very spacious, comfortable layout.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. None.  
Sailing characterisitcs Responds in all types of weather; very satisfied.  
Motoring characterisitcs New 10 x 15 Sailor Prop allows me to cruise at 6 knots at 2500 rpms.  
Liveability Very comfortable. Wish I had a sink in the V-berth.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)

Other comments Everyone should have one.
