Review of the Catalina 28 by Scott Kelly

How the boat is used Weekends and longer  
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots  
Average size of crew 2-4  
Liveaboard? No  
Owner bought the boat in 1996  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, we have had alot of fun  
Gear that's been added Gps, Lazy Jacks, Cockpit table, Force 10 Bar-b-que, lots of Catalina Island pictures.  
Structural or complex improvements Some rigging ie boom vang ( Garhauer ) added lights in aft cabin.  
The boat's best features Good sailing, comfortable, big cockpit, open transom.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Bad battery location,  
Sailing characterisitcs All kinds, light air  
Motoring characterisitcs Good now with 3 blade prop. Had to replace our exhaust pipe, this was pure torture!  
Liveability Just Great. We have spent weeks at a time aboard and lived 3 days a week on IIPAC for about 4 months. We loved it.

The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Don't let the broker hire your survey person.  
Other comments Our boat is really happy sailing! It5 looks good
