Owner bought the boat in 2010
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes....we owned one of the original C-22 versions years ago when we lived in the Midwest and had a GREAT time with it. Shortly after moving back to San Diego we got back into sailing. We first bought a Capri-18 and really enjoyed this boat. We wanted more room, but still wanted the ability to trailer a boat. The C-250 was just too big, so the logical choice was a C-22. We chose the MK-II version for the spacious cabin! A much nicer interior than the original C-22 design. We also have the wing keel version and have been very pleased with the performance and ZERO maintenance. No more "keel-clunk"! First experience with the CDI roller furling. So far enjoying it! 8 years old and still runs smooth.
Gear that's been added Autohelm, bimini, and will be installing a full marine head. We dry sail the boat out of the Mission Bay Yacht Club so I had a rope sling made for lifting her off the trailer and dropping her into the water.
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Interior and cockpit room, good performance, and quality construction.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. No problems, and we are friends with the original owner, and they had no problems either.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs We have a 5 hp 4-stroke Honda. I was worried if the motor would be enough power and have no problems. Plenty of power to push her in the currents during tidal changes in both Mission Bay and San Diego Bay. Can't believe how thrifty the engine is on gas!
Liveability We spend several days at a time on board and find her very comfortable for the wife and I. We've got several trips to Catalina Island planned later this year with some longer crossing planned.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I've talked with Catalina Yachts on several occasions, not concerning this boat, but have always found them helpful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
