Review of the Catalina 22 by Tanya09

Year built 1984
Location of boat League City TX
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2008
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I would buy this boat again just to get the experience behind me before I move up to a bigger boat. It is a great learner boat, inexpensive to operate and just a nice little boat all around.
Gear that's been added VHF Radio, new Main, stopper on the mast, a porti potti. Soon to install a tiller tamer and dept finder.
Structural or complex improvements The cabin table was upgraded when I bought it.
The boat's best features The cockpit is roomy for it's size.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing major yet.
Sailing characterisitcs I think once I have the rigging all set up properly it is going to be smooth sailing. She's a tender little boat but easy to control.
Motoring characterisitcs Would want a little bigger outboard. Currently have a Nissan 5.5; would rather have a 10hp and only run half out.
Liveability None, do not buy this boat to live on. One or two people with a small child can manage to sleep comforable for a night or week end but this is not a live aboard boat.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Great, could not ask for more!
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
