Review of the Catalina 320 by Tom Honor

Year built 2002
Location of boat Holland, MI MBYC
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2007
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, the boat fits our needs while fitting our budget.
Gear that's been added GPS,Anchor Windlass, Lazy jacks, Microwave, DVD/TV, Gori two blade folding prop, Dodger & Bimini, over sized wheel, Kevlar Sails, engine cover insulation
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features We love the way she sails. She is very stable underway. She handles the waves like a dream. When the sails are trimmed right the boat will steer itself.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs Same as above
Motoring characterisitcs I race on another 320, it's hull #22 and the motor on that boat is a Perkins and is extremely loud. The motor on my boat hull #909 is a Yanmar and is much quieter and by insulating the engine covers has made even more of a difference.
Liveability This boat is very livable. Their is plenty of room for my four person family to stay on for a week at a time. I wouldn't think of putting seven on the boat for a week unless the weather was great and could get them off the boat for the day.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
