Review of the Catalina Capri-18 by Michael Pazeian

Year built 1987
Location of boat Alamitos Bay, California
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength Press here to select
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1987
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? The Capri 18 is a fine boat for my needs, single hand and small group day sailing. I have taken it out for full day part ocean/part inside the breakwater sailing. It is fun and handles very well. Not for the person who wants to go fast.
Gear that's been added Stock. The boat cames with everything you need.
Structural or complex improvements I have a new 6 hr. Yamaha motor.
The boat's best features Unique. Very few sold, very few still in existences.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. It is a very good boat.
Sailing characterisitcs light winds most of the time. Occasional 10-12 knot winds which the boat handles fine.
Motoring characterisitcs Smooth and easy.
Liveability N/A
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Catalina is a great company.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Private party after they realized they bought the wrong boat (they wanted a bigger one).
Other comments Inexpensive. Great stress reducer.
