Review of the Catalina 22 by Brian Wilcox

Year built 1976
Location of boat Sebec Lake, Maine
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in Burl
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I want a bigger, live aboard classic, like a Cogge Ketch
Gear that's been added Cutlass, spyglass, potato cannon
Structural or complex improvements Bigger cooler for more beer
The boat's best features Easy to singlehand, somewhat forgiving, good for snaggin chicks
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Glass beer bottles suck, hard to play the bagpipes and steer
Sailing characterisitcs Extended periods of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror
Motoring characterisitcs Goes good
Liveability Great if you're a hermit crab
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) nope
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Great
Other comments Doesn't hold enough plunder or booty...too small for a falconette
