Review of the Catalina 28mkII by Charley Williams

Year built 1998
Location of boat San Francisco Bay
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? This has been a great boat. I would buy it again.
Gear that's been added I bought the boat from the original owner who had it well equiped. I added a GPS mounted at the helm for the occasional bay fog day.
Structural or complex improvements None needed.
The boat's best features Easy to single hand on the bay in 20 to 30 knot breeze.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing.
Sailing characterisitcs Will round up if your sail trim (or size set) is not right for the strength of wind. This usually happens if you ignore the thought "It's time to reef"
Motoring characterisitcs Excellent.
Liveability Very comfortable for me.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Okay
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Okay
Other comments Great boat.
