Review of the Catalina 25 by Mark DeBruhl

Year built 1980
Location of boat Urbanna, Va
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, it was our first sailboat and a great one to learn on.
Gear that's been added Depth sounder, auto-tiller
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Very easy to sail, quick response to tiller.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Windows and hatches leaked. However, much of it was due to age.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs Motors very well with my Johnson 8hp outboard.
Liveability Good for a couple over a long weekend! I could not imagine living on it for an extended period of time.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Purchased the boat from Chesapeake Yacht Sales in Delatville, VA. Very good to work with. They helped me find the 1997 Catalina 28 I just purchased. Anyone want to buy at Catalina 25?
Other comments Great boat! I would recommed it to anyone wanting to learn to sail. Very forgiving. Fun to sail and well constructed!
