Review of the Catalina 22 by Steve Everts

Year built 1986
Location of boat Maine
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I would or maybe the Catalina 25
Gear that's been added Mastheadlight. New sails and a roller furling jib to be added in 2003. VHF radio.
Structural or complex improvements New coat of bottom paint. Paint above waterline due to age of boat in 2003 before launching
The boat's best features I love the way it handles in all conditions. Its a great ovbernighter boat with enough room for two adults and maybe three children. It motors extremly well with a four stroke 5 horsepower motor.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I had to get a gooseneck fitting through Catalina Direct and they were very fast in getting me the part.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The boat was in good shape for being left outside uncovered for a few years. The dealer was friendly and delivered the boat cleaned and ready to go when promised. They even bought a new tiller for me.
