Review of the Catalina 25 by Gary Kirkham

Year built 1989
Location of boat Clear Lake, Texas
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1992
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Without question. I went from a powerboat to this classic beauty. Never gave power another thought. It has everything I need.
Gear that's been added 1. Complete canvas. 2. Second swim ladder 3. Quality Compass 4. Depth finder 5. Gennaker 6. New butane stove 7. Topping lift 8. Battery charger
Structural or complex improvements None.
The boat's best features Easy to sail. Lots of room for a twenty-five footer.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I had to repair leaks that were discovered bu the original owner (reason he sold). No other problems.
Sailing characterisitcs Points well.
Motoring characterisitcs Suzuki 9.9. I think the boat handles OK under power.
Liveability Drinks 6. Feeds 4. Sleeps 2.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Excellent. Very helpful. David Gras in tech support is very knowledgable. First class treatment.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Broker was honest about the leaks.
Other comments The boat is considered a member of the family. What else can I say?
