Review of the Catalina Capri-14.2 by Dave Valantine

Year built 1989
Location of boat Home Garage
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1989
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes! This is a fine sailing boat. I've never had it on her side. Sails fine with or without the jib. I have a jib roller, which is great for cruising...but not racing. If you race...invest in racing sails.
Gear that's been added Jib Roller
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Easy setup and not easily knocked down.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Can't think of any.
Sailing characterisitcs Does't point well into the wind with stock sails...racing sails a must for best performance.
Motoring characterisitcs Never motored.
Liveability Not a great boat for living on board...unless you're a rat.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
