Review of the Catalina 27 by Mark Douglas

Owner bought the boat in 2001  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Already have. This is my second Cat 27. I owned 1st for 9 years, went to Cat 30. I didnt like 30 as near as much. Sold 30  
Gear that's been added just getting started. So far just upgraded VHF, Stereo-cd.  
Structural or complex improvements Not on this one.  
The boat's best features value mostly. The fact that its easily single handed. I solo'd west coast of Fl in my last 27. Now I have wife  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Never had a great seal on main hatch, cockpit scuppers easily foul. windows  
Sailing characterisitcs Thats why I went back. Sailed alot of boats, these sail as good as any overall. not that peppy in real light winds, but can really be fun in moderate winds.  
Motoring characterisitcs typical for sailboat  
Liveability Great liveaboard for single. Good for week or two with couple. good for week with 3. Weekend with 4.
