Review of the Catalina Capri-16 by Bob Kleinschmit

Year built 1990
Location of boat Michigan
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? yes
Gear that's been added depth sounder, compass
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features It's small enough to trailer easily and it can be sailed on smaller inland lakes, yet it is stable and secure enough to sail on the Great Lakes and in large waves.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The topping lift is annoying.
Sailing characterisitcs Fast, stable, good in all weather and all points of sail.
Motoring characterisitcs fast and manuverable
Liveability Acceptable for shorter cruises; two berths but comfortable; limited headroom
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any no problems
Other comments It's a great all around boat which, probably due to the Capri 18, not many have been built.
