Review of the Catalina 28mkII by Don Kneedler

Year built 1996
Location of boat Lake Ray Roberts, Sanger Texas
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1996
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely!
Gear that's been added Tankwatch, fridge, Furling line block&cleat.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Easy to sail. Low maintenance
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing major. I would recomend the 3 blade prop over the 2 blade.
Sailing characterisitcs Poor preformer at low wind speed (under 6 knots).
Motoring characterisitcs A little shaky w 2 blade prop, otherwise fine.
Liveability The boat is great for a family of 4 for weekend retreats.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Very good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Inland Sailing Center in Dallas Texas (972-226-2200) has been great! I would highly recomend them.
Other comments The best boat you can buy for the money.
