Review of the Catalina 250 by Michael Lee Kobe

Year built 1998
Location of boat Lake Perry Kansas
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely!! It is my very first boat ever and I did a great deal of reasearch before purchasing it. I would definately buy it again!
Gear that's been added shore power, compass, depth finder, knot meter, whisker pole, barrier coat,
Structural or complex improvements NONE
The boat's best features Easy to learn to sail. Great first boat to get into the sport of sailing. Comfortable and safe.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The quality of the sails has been a disappointment but only a minor one.
Sailing characterisitcs It is a easy boat to sail and must be reefed early to maintain a comfortable sail.
Motoring characterisitcs It motors wonderfully with the 9.9 hp outboard motor!
Liveability I spend weekends on the boat but don't "live" on it. It is a weekender or day sailer.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Excellent service... sometimes a little too slow but very helpful and professional.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The dealer was very helpful and made the purchase a great joy. This was especially important for me because this was my first boat of any kind. So I need guidance and helpful suggestions
Other comments I think the Catalinal 250 Wing Keel is an excellent first boat to learn on and to spend enjoyable weekends with family and friends. I strongly recommend it.
